Megan Harris-Pero, Esq. Harris-Pero Law Firm, Elder Law, Estate Planning, Estate Settlement & Business Law

Megan Harris-Pero, Esq.

Working in large and boutique law firms, Megan witnessed the power of planning wisely. She founded Harris-Pero Law Firm, PLLC to provide a more personal level of service for families, farmers, and business owners.

A 2019 Saratoga Woman of Influence, she completed Cornell University’s LEAD program for future agriculture leaders and serves on the board of the Agricultural Stewardship Association (which conserves farmland in Washington and Rensselaer Counties).

A resident of Malta, she is also active in the community of Essex, NY. Outside the office, you’ll find her chauffeuring two daughters, working on home projects, practicing yoga, hiking, snow skiing, and crewing on small sail boats.

Amelia Scaglione, Esq.

Growing up, Amelia loved family camping trips to the Adirondacks, so she is delighted to be working in Saratoga. A New Jersey native, she interned for the Bergen County Surrogate and Superior Court before graduating from Pace University Law School and passing the New York State Bar.

A Duquesne University alum, Amelia brings experience from working for a White Plains, NY firm, where she handled trust and estate matters. She especially enjoys estate planning clients because, “No two are alike, and I’m always learning!”

Outside of work, you’ll likely find Amelia cheering on her favorite hockey team, the Seattle Kraken, wandering a local bookstore or walking Casper, her rescue cocker spaniel.

Matthew Waldron,

Law Clerk

Matthew is a Saratoga Native returning to the Capital District after attending Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA. Prior to attending law school, Matthew graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Management and Business. During his time at Skidmore and after graduation, Matthew was a Legal Assistant for Attorney Megan Harris-Pero and became passionate about helping individuals through proper estate planning.

Matthew is currently going through the steps of becoming a New York licensed attorney. Matthew enjoys supporting the Arts, planning his next trip (usually to Barcelona, where his partner is from), and spending time with his beloved cat, Doja Cat.

Annie Laughman, Paralegal

Annie grew up in Milford, Pennsylvania near the New Jersey and New York borders. She moved to the Capital Region in 2016 to attend SUNY Albany where she earned both her BA and MA in Criminal Justice. In addition, Annie brings agricultural experience as a New York State 4-H alumni and volunteer.

Annie joined the firm in 2021 with a passion for helping others through life’s difficult moments. When she is not at the office, you can find Annie testing out a new recipe, enjoying a scary movie marathon, or hanging out by a campfire with her husband, Dustin, and two dogs, Luna and Radar.

Ruta Tomik, Office & Legal Assistant

Ruta joined the firm in October 2021. Originally from Connecticut, Ruta moved to the area in 1999. Ruta is often the friendly voice you hear when you call our front desk. We refer to her as our Office and Moral Support Assistant.

She is enthusiastic about sticky notes, stamps, and smiley faces. When not at the office, Ruta can be found with her family gardening, swimming, cooking, hiking, or volunteering in the community.

Megan Rogers,

Finance & Legal Assistant

Megan (whom we call “Meg”) brings a wealth of experience to the firm, having worked for Saratoga Hospital, Adirondack Mountain Club, animal rescues and a historic theatre. She loves being part of organizations that are making a difference in the community.

A native Long Islander, Meg graduated from Stonybrook University and competed nationally in Irish Step Dance. At the firm, Meg manages billing and assists our attorneys. Out of work, she’s often hiking with her husband, Rich, and her dogs, d’Artagnan & Lyla, followed by a trip to the nearest brewery!
