Warren County Sheriff Warns of Salon Gift Card Scam

Last week, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning about a website that was selling fake gift cards for local salons. The Sheriff’s Office warned that a website sold gift cards to hair and nail salons in Queensbury. When the unsuspecting gift card holders tried to use their gift cards at the salons, they discovered that the gift cards were in fact fake.

We can only imagine the disappointment from the gift card holders and the small businesses trying to keep customers happy and regrettably having to share the bad news that payment could not be accepted.

Be vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect your money and your identity.

  1. Make sure that any website you purchase from is legitimate. If you are purchasing something locally, contacting the provider directly is safer than going through a third party!

  2. Do not share any personal information online or via email to an email address and/or name that you do not recognize.
