Ethical Will Seminar and Meditation

Ethical Wills

When people are planning for their legacy the document they most often think of is the Last Will and Testament. The Will is a document that helps to ensure that your belongings go to who you want. The Will translates your wishes into legal authority to ensure that your wealth is protected and passed down to your family in the way that you wish it to. However, the Will does not tell your family how you hope they use what you passed down to them nor does it communicate how you hope your legacy is carried on. This is why we encourage clients to write their own Ethical Will.

What is an Ethical Will?

We think of an ethical will as a way to share your wisdom or as a love letter to your family. It can be in the form of a letter to convey your wishes, your memories, your hopes, and perhaps some things that you have learned over the course of your life. It is a document that YOU create to accompany your Last Will and Testament. Your family will treasure your Ethical Will and look to it for guidance.

If you are interested in learning more about Ethical Wills or if you are having trouble getting started Harris-Pero Legal Counsel, PLLC is hosting a seminar “Preparing your Ethical Will” on October 20th from 9 am to 10:30 am. Please click here to let us know that you’ll be coming to the event.
