Joining a CSA: Enjoy fresh produce while supporting local farms
By joining a CSA, enjoy fresh produce while supporting local farms. Community Supported Agriculture (often called CSA) is a program where you purchase a farm share to guarantee weekly delivery of vegetables from late Spring through Fall. CSAs have been around for nearly three decades and at Harris-Pero and Botelho, we are proud to work with many local farms who offer CSAs.
Buying a share provides your family with fresh, local, in-season produce (often picked that day!), while making an important community investment. Supporting a local farm ensures safe, reliable food sources, while preserving open space, creating jobs and contributing to our area’s economy. Some CSA memberships allow you to choose the contents of your weekly share, but we love trying new food (farms often provide recipes for tasty preparation!).
This is the time of year when farms open up CSA subscriptions. Purchasing your share now provides critical funds for farmers to plan the best possible harvest. At a time when we are more concerned about the origin and quality of our food as we try to eat healthier, a CSA is a wonderful gift – to yourself or someone you care about.
We invited farms we work with to share information about their CSAs below. Reach out directly for more information, including pricing, pick-up locations and share options. Tell them Harris-Pero & Botelho sent you — and we’ll see you at the farm!
